What if the wife has a call and the husband doesn’t? Everyone might be inclined to say she should stay home! So, why isn’t this applied in the other direction? Seems like the wisdom of God would be to wait on the Lord for oneness of mind. . .
If there is not UNITY in the work of missions then it will be filled with problems. This is true even if the mission team is just men. Remember Paul and Barnabas and John Mark? It is no small matter that we should be of the same mind and in one accord – by love serving one another – even in the work of missions (Phil. 2:1-5).

Solve it before you get married. Longer time as friends to see if you are matched and truly best friends and will make good, life-long, married lovers – of each other and of our Lord. Worship together, serve the church together, see what doors God opens, see where you sense a fitting for the future. We can be called to different missions in life, it doesn’t have to always be identical. God does call couples. God blesses marriages where couples are obedient to Him, and respond with joy to His call. There are seasons where you will serve alongside one another closely, and seasons where one will stay closer to home, and seasons where, if you have any kids, they will join you in the mission. It will shift over a lifetime. Hopefully, your greatest mission will be to each other. When people see you they will see Christ and His Church. That is quite a successful mission base! Serving the Lord together is a lifelong joy.
