God, the Giver of Strength

Elaine VitikainenElaine Vitikainen

I was very much wanting the summer break to last forever. Or even just for a few more months. I have a major task ahead of me which makes me want to stretch the summer break even just a bit more. I fear that I would not be able to cope or that I’ll be performing this important task without joy and excitement.

These Bible verses reminded me that God will provide the strength that I need. In Habakkuk 3:19 it says, “The Sovereign Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to tread on the heights.” Isaiah 40:31 also says, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” So now I can say as in Philippians 4:13, “I can do all this through Him who gives me strength.”

However, God-given strength is not solely for the purpose of fulfilling a task or even just to help us be kind to one another. In Mark 12:30, we are commanded to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.”

This week:

May God give us the strength to stay joyful in all that we do. May God give us strength to love God as God commanded us.
