About the Author

Originally from Texas in the USA, Bert Watson journeyed to South Africa in 1983 to work with young people. After ten years with Youth for Christ and seven years pastoring at Maranatha Community Church, Bert founded Leading Edge Christian Ministries to focus on Christian leadership development in Africa. In addition to training, mentoring, and coaching Christian leaders, he coordinates the leadership development team of 40/40 Africa Vision and leads a project with South African Theological Seminary to develop a first-of-its-kind accredited, holistic, transformational, church-integrated leadership development program for African Church. He is a strong believer in networking and ‘Kingdom’ collaboration. A lifelong learner,  Bert holds an MA in Global Leadership from Fuller Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. in practical theology from South African Theological Seminary.  Like the apostle Paul, his desire is to see every person “fully developed” in Christ (Col. 1:28). Bert is married to Surette, a South African, and they have three children.
