Welcome to Issue 28 of Healthy Leaders. In this issue, we look at the source of Jesus’ life and leadership.
Hello friends,
Welcome back to our ongoing conversation1 on healthy Christian leadership and leader development.
Last time, we took a peek into the glory of the eternal fellowship of the triune God. This fellowship with God is the source of everything in Jesus’ life and ministry — and it can also be the source for you as a leader!
Let’s find out what that fellowship looked like practically during Jesus’ ministry on earth:
Jesus’ union with His Father is the source of all of the following and more:
His words
His works
His wisdom
His power
His abilities
His leadership
And through Christ, in Him, by the power of His death and resurrection: we have access to this source as well! Consider for a moment what total grace this is, that God would make a way for us to be with Him in such close communion.
A treasure greater than the sum total of the universe, of realms both seen and unseen: God has given us Himself!
And with what measure has God given Himself to us? Let us hear and marvel at the words of John: “God gives the Spirit without limit.” (John 3:34) God has given Himself to us without measure! All of God is in us – in each one of us! All of God is accessible to us – to each one of us! All of God is ours! (from To Enjoy Him Forever)
Our brothers and sisters from East Asia have experienced this fellowship, and their lives have been transformed because of it. Here’s what they have to say:
“I was very proud and tough inside. My dad had passed away when I was a one-year-old and I was always bullied by my classmates, so I felt very lonely and depressed. In my inner heart there was an orphan spirit, so I was not willing to get to know people deeply. However, in the program, through healing and deliverance, I was deeply touched by God. God told me, “I am your Father, and you are not alone.” I was filled with security in Him. Since then I have learned to have fellowship with God, and I have been changed from the inside out by constantly being in union with Christ.”
“In the midst of my desperation, this program brought about a new hope and a new start for me. It restored my relationship with God and gave me new motivation to serve God. It provided me with an opportunity to meet God and be rebuilt by Him. I realized deeply that Christ is the center and the source of my life. Only when I know more about Christ can I live in His abundance; only when I have a relationship with Christ can my life become more holy. Only when I soak in the presence of God can I live out His will and overcome temptation. I have experienced the depth of the love of Christ, and I am willing to submit to His sovereignty.”
We should long for such communion with our great God, with a deep desire born of Him and fulfilled only in Him!
“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” (Psalm 42:1-2)
Until next time, we’re with you,
— Chris
